BEALACH follows on as a progression of previous works such as Éirí, MEM Festival in partnership with The Guggenheim TopARTE programme 2025, Súil Eile, MEM Festival, Bilbao, 2023 and Through the Eye, PEPA, Madrid in 2019, looking at an old west of Ireland tradition, where a mackerel was placed in a bowl beside the head of the deceased, allowing the soul of the dead to pass through the eye. Viewing ourselves as part of nature and looking at the cyclical nature of life through the lens of interconnection, Bealach will explore how our connection to the metaphysical can heighten our phenomenon of being in this world together, through the creation of a space beyond words, of shared connective energy.
